Software & Digital Engineering
Software and digital engineering are becoming a core part of how vehicles are built and improved over time. Instead of being fixed once manufactured, vehicles today can keep evolving through software. A lot of this happens through embedded systems that quietly control different functions inside the vehicle. Some frameworks, like AUTOSAR, are used to organise this, although most users never notice it directly. During development, teams rely on different testing approaches. In some cases, they simulate the software, and in others they connect it with actual hardware to see how it behaves. Digital models of vehicles are also used to study performance before anything is finalised. Updates are no longer limited to service centres. With cloud support and over-the-air capabilities, changes can be delivered remotely. Data also plays a role, as information from vehicles helps improve features and overall experience over time. Put together, it’s less about one technology and more about a continuous process that keeps vehicles connected and improving.
